Hello, I have the opportunity to buy a Volvo D3 2.0 136 hp with 60k miles from 2015, it has the engine code (D5204T7) I would like to know if it has any of the problems you mentioned about the drive belt or other worrisome things. Thanks

Hi TheVolvoGuy, my 2015 V60 T6 is burning oil so I purchased new pistons. Trouble is, they supplied the same ones as those I removed. The oil control ring is bigger then the one you show but smaller then the new replacement you show. I'd be very interested to know the Volvo part number for the piston and rings you purchased to replace the original piston. Thank you.

Hi VolvoGuy, thank you for this awesome video! This is the first proper summary I've seen so far. Unfortunately my XC90 T6 2016 blows out blueish, greyish smoke randomly. I swapped the engine last year: shitty piston rings and faulty oil level sensor lead to fatal engine failure. The used engine that was installed has a maximum mileage of 50.000. First guess was turbo seals, axle, etc...but turbo seems to be fine...no oil in the hoses...no noise...no power leakage etc. Second guess: piston rings - again. But borings look fine (engine was endoscoped)...Compression test perfect....spark plugs clean. Now my third guess is the PCV: Although I heard that some vacuum is normal / good (glove test) I experience that my oil cap is literally sucked in like hell, when I try to open it with the engine running. If I disconnect the main PCV hose, the oil cap starts "dancing" on top of the PCV and I get a low to medium vacuum. The air filter is more or less clean. Do you think my PCV is failing or starting to fail? Or do you have any other solution? Best regards and thank you very much in advance!

XC70 T6 has an oil leak on the cams. Oil residue found on the belt. Timing cover, water pump with labor $ 2,270.00 bucks. Crazy.. getting second opinion.

Can anyone recommend an oil to prolong the oil . Meaning having to add lees. Love my s60 just don’t want to put 8000$ in it.

Are you talking about B4204T11 and B4204T9 2014-2017 ? Diesel or petrol?

would you know why i dont have any compression in my volvo xc60 3.2l v6 2011. i took the head off and replace the head gasket. i follwed all your instructions on how to do the timing, but now i have no compression. I have new starter, new spark splugs, new coil packs, new injectors.

Hello how about late v60 2016-09 that is made whith this engine, 2,0 d5 d4204t11(171) ? Should it be safe whith the springs or maybe not ? The car is registrated 2017, but made 2016-09

Is it possible to mis-align the head so that the READ, long upper bolt and water pump pipe don't line up? My head only had one location dowel on the left hand side so the head could have rotated around this and moved out of square slightly I have an issue with the chain guide top (long bolt )is not centred in the inner cover hole not sure what to do...? Any suggestions??

Thanks for the tutorial; worked for my 2029 Volvo V60 CC. A couple of things to note : - after turning the clips to release the cover with the hose, there are snap-in clips on each end that can/should be undone by inserting a flat head screwdriver and pushing them out - it’s much easier to put the new filter in if the cover is removed from the hose. It’s the same Torx bit to unscrew it.

Great video Volvo Guy! I have a question, my wife's 2017 Volvo XC 60 T5 has check engine light come on and a rough idling during cold start but when engine is warm, the rough idling disappears. Code is PO301 which according to diagnostics, it's the number 1 cylinder misfire. First I change just the number 1 ignition coil then it 's doing the same thing with the same code. then I changed all ignition coils and spark plugs on all cylinders but it's still doing the same thing with the same code. What could be the issue here?

​@TheVolvoGuy i removed my alternator seal and dowels were missing. That bolt also was red loctited in. I think there was a subpar alternator job done in the past. Do you have any idea where i can find those dowels or how important they are?

My V40 D4 uses 0.5l every 100 miles. Drives awful. Absolute bag of shit, worst car I have ever owned. A warning to anyone looking at buying one of these cars.

I am not sure what the new part is, or if there is an empty part number. V 40 2014 t 5 is currently in use.

Got the issue, but no recall. So pulling pistons and rings is thousands. I have 135 k, not under warranty

Great video. About to tackle this soon. I would like a little more info on the decoupler pulley. Mechanic quoted me stupid high on an alternator job saying that he believes the decoupler pulley also needs changed. He quoted me $1600. I'm about to have the car towed back to my house to do myself. Just want to know what i woulc potentially be getting my self into with the pulley and seal. I was going to buy an alternator kit and decoupler/seal kit from FCPEuro.

Can you check is there even hole under oil ring? I have had two series where the oil return hole has not been drilled all the way through. no wonder they get blocked..

Glad I found your site! Looking at a used 2015.5 XC60 T5 with the 4cylinder Drive E engine. Vehicle is a one owner, dealer serviced maintenance records and has 77k miles on it. Is there any way to find out if the engine has been repaired under the original warranty? Thanks for this very useful post. We've always had a Volvo and currently looking at the XC line. Our 2004 S60 2.5T just hit 200k miles and still runs great!

Hi, thank you for the video. Were you going to be doing more videos? my 2018 xc60 had a code for a bad downstream sensor, when i changed it, the car gave me a p0420 code (cat working under efficiency). Love to learn how to find a vacuum leak in this platform. Thanks again
